Clean solid waste, blood immediately after slaughtering

The directive was given at a meeting of the Ministry of Environment and Forest with minister Tariqul Islam in the chair.

The meeting urged all concerned bodies to disseminate messages through different medium of mass communications and inter-personal communication networks to create massive public awareness about negative environmental impacts of improper management of solid waste and blood of sacrificial animals. It requested the people not to use polythene bags for removal of solid waste and blood after slaughtering.

It directed all city corporations and municipal bodies to take steps to clean all solid waste and blood immediately after the slaughtering. The meeting also directed the Bangladesh Betar and BTV to broadcast special messages to halt environmental degradation in the country. It also urged the national dailies to highlight the issue.

Bangladesh Islamic Foundation has been directed to raise awareness among the Imams so that they can advise the musallis about cleanliness and its impact on environment after Juma prayers. It also decided to launch leaflet campaign to boost the level of public awareness on this issue.
