Evict encroachers of Banani-Gulshan lake

They also called for urgent steps to stop earth filling and water pollution of the lake.

The rally was organised by Paribesh Bachao Andolon near the Banani-Gulshan Link Bridge in the city.

The speakers said the lake is now under the control of encroachers who are planning to build illegal structures over there by filling it.

They said if the lake loses its natural environment, its water level would go down increasing further pollution and the probability of landslide.

The rally decided to continue the movement till the demands are met.

Presided over by former advisor of the caretaker government ASM Shahjahan, the rally was also addressed by Convenor of Paribesh Bachao Andolon Abu Naser Khan, Local Ward Commissioner Abdul Alim Latif, General Secretary of Banani Nagorik Kalyan Samity Shah Abul Kashem and Vice- President ABM Abdul Karim, and Coordinator of Greenforce Alamgir Kabir.
