2 new Hyv of rice developed
According to a BRRI press release, the new BRRI varieties showed the yield potentials of four tonnes per hectare within 100-day growth duration
These two new varieties are medium drought resistant, of short duration and higher yielding compared to the existing varieties in the drought prone areas, experts said at the Annual Internal Research Review meeting of BRRI at its Gazipur headquarters on Tuesday.
Former Member of Planning Commission and renowned rice scientist, Dr SM Hasanuzzaman opened the four-day review meeting as chief guest. BRRI Director General Dr M Mahiul Hoque chaired the inaugural session while Directors Dr MA Baqui and Dr AR Gomosta spoke among others.
A total of 400 scientists and experts from different research institutions and universities as well as representatives from different funding agencies are participating in the meeting.
