19 shops gutted in Sylhet fire
Nineteen shops and godowns were gutted in a devastating fire at a commercial centre in Kanaight upazila in the early hours of yesterday.
The fire started at a tea stall at Sorokerbazar, 58 km off the Sylhet city, at around 2.30am and soon engulfed the adjacent shops, police said. The loss was estimated at about Tk 1.30 crore.
Fire fighters from Sylhet rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control at about 5.00am.
