Burglary at Philips showroom
Electronic appliances worth around Tk 10 lakh were stolen from a Philips-Whirlpool showroom at Panthapath in the city in the early hours of yesterday.
A gang of burglars broke into the showroom at 43/R West Panthapath and took away television and VCD sets, music systems and other goods, said Harunur Rashid, owner of the showroom.
He said he and the employees rushed to the showroom after one of his friends called him finding the shutter of the showroom open at around 9:15am yesterday. They closed the shop at about 9:10pm the previous day.
Harun filed a case with Tejgaon Police Station in this connection. Police, however, could not arrest any criminal, nor could they recover the stolen goods.
