4 on fresh remand

Four arrestees in Siddheshwari Girls High School headmistress and her daughter murder case were given fresh remand while two others sent to jail yesterday.

The CID men produced six arrestees former member of the school managing committee Shah Imran, caretaker of Sabera Begum Baby's Baridhara house Omar Faruq, security guards Jahangir and Johor Lal and domestic helps Zakia Sultana Bilkis and Fatema -- before the Court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate on completion of their remand.

In a forwarding, CID Additional Superintendent Fazlul Karim Khan said Jahangir made extra-judicial confession on his involvement in the murders and provided them significant information.

"He gave us the names of the killers and we are now verifying those," the CID officer said.

Fazlul submitted a prayer for seven-day remand of Jahangir and three others Shah Imran, Faruq and Johor pleading that they are needed to quiz further for verification of the information they gave and arresting the killers.

Magistrate MA Salam granted four-day remand.

The court sent Bilkis and Fatema to jail as Fazlul reasoned that they need to be confined until the probe ends.

The CID is yet to find the motive of the brutal murders.

Since the receiving of case docket from Gulshan police on Monday, they failed to arrest anyone in connection with the murders.
