'Exempt all sorts of duty from animal health products'

UNB, Dhaka
Animal Health Companies Association of Bangladesh (AHCAB) yesterday renewed their demand for exempting animal health products from all sorts of duty.

The Association, providing medicinal support to the poultry and livestock sectors, also stressed the need for setting up of a separate drug cell under the Drug Administration for animal health products.

The demands came up at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2004 of the Association at Sheraton Hotel on Wednesday.

The members at the opening session said that majority of the farmers were deprived of the advantage of bringing down the cost of poultry inputs for lack of concessions.

They urged the government to consider the issues for giving a further boost to the poultry and livestock sectors that have immense scope of creating employment opportunities in rural areas.

AHCAB President Dr MM Khan, Vice President Monzur Aziz, General Secretary M Morshed Alam, Treasurer Tayeebur Rahman and Joint Secretary Aftab Alam spoke at the session.
