48 students to vie for each seat

About 48 students will vie for each seat in first year honours courses.

The university earned around Tk 1.25 crore by selling admission forms this year.

Admission tests will begin on December 18 and continue till December 28.

The tests will be held in five shifts from 9:30am to 5:00pm.

The seat plan will be available from the dean's office of respective unit.

Admission tests for the departments under science faculty (Ka unit) will begin tomorrow. The tests for computer science and engineering, chemistry, geological science, statistics and environmental science departments will be held on that day while the tests for physics and mathematics will be held on the next day.

Admission tests for the departments under life science faculty (Gha unit) will begin on December 20. The tests for botany and zoology departments will be held on the fist day while the tests for biochemistry and molecular science and pharmacy will be held on the following day.

Admission tests for the departments under social science faculty (Kha unit) will begin on December 22. The tests for urban and regional planning, and geography will be held on the first day while the tests for bachelor of administration, and government and politics will be held on the next day. The tests for economics and anthropology will be held on December 24.

Admission tests for the departments under arts faculty (Ga unit) will begin on December 26. The tests for English, international relations, and drama and dramatics departments will be held on the first day while the tests for history and philosophy will be held on the next day. The tests for archaeology and Bangla will be held on December 28.

All classes and examinations will remain suspended during the admission tests and the result of the tests will be published on daily newspapers.

The JU authorities have cancelled the admission of students under sports and cultural quotas from this year following the allegations of gross irregularities in admitting students under quotas last year.

However, the admission of students under freedom fighter, ward and tribal quotas will continue as per rule.
