Case fate uncertain as documents 'missing'

Rajshahi district magistrate's court police said they could not find out the case documents till yesterday while a copy of the High Court (HC) order dated August 16, 1995 reached the magistrate's court on December 12 last.

Some judicial section officials might have misplaced the documents of the case for saving the criminals, Habibur Rahman Hasibul, the victim's lawyer said.

The victim in her petition filed with the special tribunal set up at Rajshahi to deal with cases involving violence against woman in January, 1989, said four BNP men (names mentioned in the petition) raped her.

In August,1995, a HC bench issued rule in favour of the victim, rejecting a challenge petition by the accused four.

A copy of the HC order, which was missing for long, reached the Rajshahi tribunal judicial section on December 12 last, following a petition of the victim.

Meanwhile, the victim went into hiding following threats on her life by the rapists as the HC order reached the destination.
