Birth anniversary of RP Saha celebrated

The 108th birth anniversary of Ranada Prasad Saha, a great philanthropist, was observed with festivity at Kumudini Complex in Tangail yesterday.

Kumudini Complex area wore a festive look to mark his birth anniversary as well as the founding anniversary of Kumudini Welfare Trust.

Born in 1896, Ranada Prasad, popularly known as RP Saha, dedicated his life to the welfare of people.

He established Kumudini Hospital, named after his mother, and Bharateswari Homes, a residential educational institution for female students. There are a nursing school and Kumudini Women's Medical College in the complex. All the institutions are run by the Kumudini Welfare Trust.

In the evening, the students of Bharateswari Homes presented a spectacular display of physical skill. A cultural programme and discussion were also held on the occasion.

Jute Minister Shahjahan Siraj, World Bank Country Director Christine Wallich, Unesco Representative Wolfgang Vollmann and Health Secretary AFM Sarwar Kamal attended the programmes.
