Morshed hands over invitation to Pak PM

Foreign Minister M Morshed Khan yesterday handed a letter from Prime Minister Khaleda Zia to her Pakistani counterpart Shaukat Aziz inviting him to attend the forthcoming 13th Saarc Summit in Dhaka.

The Pak PM accepted the invitation and said he was looking forward to participating in the January 9-11 summit of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation.

He recalled his recent visit to Dhaka and said that he look forward to the assumption of leadership of the Saarc by Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.

Morshed Khan, now in Islamabad, briefed Shaukat Aziz about the positive response he received in the Saarc capitals to an agenda for the third decade focussing on implementation of commitments, agreements, conventions and plans of action adopted over the past 20 years.

The Pakistan prime minister expressed optimism about moving the Saarc process forward in view of the positive environment that has emerged over the past one year, a message from Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad said.
