Shutter-gun recovered from RU hall
Fresh tension gripped the campus of Rajshahi University (RU) as police recovered an abandoned shutter-gun from Nawab Abdul Latif Hall with the opening of the dormitories yesterday.
The firearm was recovered from the ground floor of the hall.
The campus reopens today after 24 days of unscheduled closure since
October 30 violence that left 200 injured.
To avert further violence, RU authorities have banned political activities on the campus.
RU Vice-chancellor Prof Faisul Islam Faruki and Pro-VC Prof KAM Shahadat Hossain Mondol met Rajshahi Police Commissioner Lokman Hakim in the morning and asked for maintaining security on the campus.
A large number of police have been deployed in front of every departments and faculty buildings.
