'Gender awareness critical for quality administration'

The nation's development goals could only be met by involving all women, who make up 50 percent of population, as well as men in the efforts to reduce poverty and ensure sustainable development, said the UNDP official.

Dr Randell, project implementation specialist, Capacity Building for Gender Mainstreaming Project (CBGM), was speaking at the inaugural session of the 41st Senior Staff Course at Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre (BPATC) in Savar yesterday.

Twenty-eight joint secretaries from 23 ministries and divisions, including four women, are taking part in this high level training.

Dr Matiur Rahman of BPATC told the participants that the CBGM Project would support their participation in a gender research programme as part of their course.

The theme of the course is good governance and human development.
