AL leader arrested at Uzirpur

Police recovered from Jamal Hossain, secretary of Barakota union AL, one pipe gun with four rounds of ammunitions.

Abdur Rob, officer-in-charge of Uzirpur police station, said Jamal, a convict in previous cases, was arrested on the basis of a secret information and sent to jail.

Jamal's family members claimed that he was arrested at the behest of a local BNP leader Khabir Hussein who had an altercation with the victim over the formation of a Madrasa managing committee.

Police also recovered an abandoned revolver from the garden of one Kasem Bepari of Otra village under the same upazila on Thursday night.
