Housewife beaten to death

Local people said Asma Begum, 27, was beaten up by her husband Badsha Mia. When her condition became critical, the family members poured poison into her mouth in a bid to show the death as suicide.

Police recovered the body and sent it to Rajbari Sadar Hospital for autopsy. A case was filed with Baliakandi police station.

In another incident, Sakirunnesa, 60, wife of Ansar Uddin of village Matiyabari under Jamalpur union in Baliakandi upazila, committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling on Thursday. The cause of the suicide could not be ascertained immediately.

Her body was sent to Rajbari Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
