JCD men vandalise press in Khulna

Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) activists stormed Modhumati offset printing press on Monday evening and went on a rampage causing extensive damage to printing machine, furniture, telephone sets and window panes for refusing to give delivery of 3,000 posters of Eid greetings for Whip Ashraf Hossain.

The Whip gave an order for printing the Eid greetings posters. The unruly JCD activists also looted Tk 51,000 from cash box and took the posters without payment, said SM Zakir Hossain, proprietor of the printing press at Shantidham crossing under Khulna thana.

The JCD vandals also threatened Zakir with dire consequence if he lodges any case and demands payment of Tk 4,210 for printing the posters. Zakir and his accounts officer Prashanta Kumar Kundu were injured during the incident. TheJCD vandals are loyal to Whip Ashraf Hossain, joint secretary general of the ruling Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Dal (BNP) central committee.

But Whip's APS denied involvement of JCD in the vandalism.

Zakaria did not file any FIR for fear of raprisal.
