Alleged robber lynched in Chittagong

The dead could not be identified while the arrested is Aynul Kabir, 26.

Police and witnesses said, a group of four robbers stormed the residence of Md Salim at the busy Batamtoli intersection area of Agrabad at around 4:00 pm.

They looted valuables from the house keeping its residents hostage at gunpoint.

Local people rushed to the spot and caught two robbers with a foreign pistol loaded with five bullets as the inmates of the house raised a hue and cry.

The mob beat one robber dead on the spot. The other, Aynul Kabir, was beaten mercilessly. Later, police rescued Aynul from the wrath of the mob.

He, however, claimed himself to be the driver of the auto-rickshaw used by the robbers.
