Students of BGC Trust University in Chittagong have threatened to go for legal action if the government closes down the university on the recommendation of the University Grants Commission (UGC).

They gave the threat at a press conference at the local press club in the port city yesterday.

The student leaders termed the UGC recommendation 'false', 'fabricated' and 'motivated'.

The student leaders claimed that the committee for evaluating the performance of private university did not even visit their city campus.

Sayada Ismat Ara, 3rd semester BBA, Saidunnesa Sumi, 3rd semester CSIT, Quamrul Huda, 4th semester BBA, Md Hasnain Chowdhury, 4th semester BBA, and Jewel Das, 4th semester CSIT spoke at the press conference.
