Hawker Ata on fresh remand

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) produced Ata, a hawker, before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court, Dhaka yesterday on completion of his five-day remand. The investigation officer (IO) sought for another five-day remand for interrogation.

In the remand prayer, the IO mentioned that he gathered important information from Ata during the remand period. He needs to be questioned to trace the whereabouts of his accomplices, the IO said.

After hearing, Metropolitan Magistrate Nani Gopal Biswas granted a three-day remand.

CID arrested Ata, 45, from his Alubazar house in the city on October 12.

Nine people -- Ata, Tusher, Litan, Rahim, Walin, Abdur Rahman, Saibal Saha Partha, Habib alias Hannan and Badsha Miah -- have so far been shown arrested in the August 21 grenade attack case.
