Jute, textile workers begin 48-hr strike

Jute and Textile Workers Action Committee began a 48-hour strike at eight state-owned jute mills of Khulna-Jessore industrial belt yesterday to press home eight-point demand.

The demands include payment of weekly wages, arrears, dearness allowance bills, arrears of medical allowance bills, refunding of PF money and end to loadshedding.

The action committee held gate meetings in front of the eight jute mills yesterday in support of their strike.
