'Set up breast cancer unit in all hospitals'

They also called for incorporating breast cancer issue in government's health policy to create mass awareness about the disease.

The demand was made in a seven-point recommendations adopted at the meeting jointly organised by Bangladesh Mahila Samity (BMS) and Bangladesh Cancer Society (BCS) on the eve of the World Breast Cancer Day at Bailey Road in the city.

The day is being observed today.

The speakers also called on the government to provide free treatment to the breast cancer patients and easy access to breast cancer medicine.

BCS Secretary General Dr Shahadat Hossain and President Prof Syed Fazlul Haque, BMS General Secretary Advocate Sahara Khatun and President Begum Selina Khaleque also spoke.

Some breast cancer survivors also narrated their experiences about the disease at the meeting.
