Discussion on threat of Aids
They expressed concern over the spread of the deadly disease in neighbouring countries and its impact on the socio-economic life of the people of Bangladesh.
The discussion on the 'Threat of HIV/Aids in Bangladesh: Strengthening Paricharja's Initiatives' was held at the Paricharja head office at Mohammadpur in the city on Monday.
Prof M Nazrul Islam, chairman, Department of Virology of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, presented the keynote paper.
Dr Parwez Saman Choudhury, executive director of Paricharja, presented the activities of the organisation, including its initiative to prevent the spread of HIV/ Aids.
Chairman of BTRC Syed Margub Morshed, former Secretary and Managing Director of Grameen Fund Faizur Razzak, former governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr Farash Uddin and Editor of the daily Independent Mahbubul Alam attended the meeting.
Khondkar Tajuddin Ahmed, advisor to Paricharja, delivered the welcome address.
