SEDF and BASIS for a different SOFTEXPO2004

Under the arrangement of MoU, BASIS and SEDF will jointly organise series of seminars during the SOFTEXPO2004. The seminars will be on various issues including E-Governance, SME use of ICT for business, financing issues for software companies, legal and financial aspects of e-Commerce, export opportunity for BPO and other IT enabled services like animation, National IT Roadmap etc.
On the backdrop of SOFTEXPO2004, BASIS and SEDF has also agreed to organise a "IT Entrepreneurship Development Program" for fostering entrepreneurship among young talents in the field. Maximum 10 young IT entrepreneurs will be selected insensibly with these entrepreneurs for 2 months for developing of business plan and marketing strategy. These projects will be exhibited during SOFTEXPO2004 with the expectation of getting prospective investors or clients for the projects.
The MoU signing ceremony was held at SEDF office. Sarwar Alam, president, BASIS and Anil Sinha, general manager of SADF signed the MoU on behalf of respective organisations. Deepak Adhikary Program Manager, Business Development Services, Dr. Rokon Uz Zaman -- Consultant SEDF, Rafiqul Islam Rowly -- Treasurer BASIS and A K M Fahim Mashroor, Director BASIS were present at the occasion.
SEDF is a multi-donor funded facility, managed by International Finance Corporation (IFC) and supported by the SME Department of The World Bank Group, in Bangladesh, Northeast India, Nepal and Bhutan.
Bangladesh Association of Software & Information Services (BASIS) is the largest representative trade association of Software and IT Enabled Service (ITES) providers in Bangladesh. With more than 145 member companies, the association is working closely with the relevant stakeholders in development of local and international market for different ICT services. BASIS is actively involved in policy formulation support to government with regard to development of the ICT sector as well as appropriate use of ICT services for the development of the country.
