Workshop for graphical workers begins
Union Network International (UNI), the world body of the graphical workers, has sponsored the workshop titled 'Trade Union Training Course for Organisers.'
Twenty participants from across the country are taking part in the workshop, said a press release.
M L Talwar, treasurer of All India Newspaper Employees Federation of New Delhi, attended the inaugural session as special guest.
He said UNI was created in 2000 to protect the interest of graphical workers as the multinational employers are now operating simultaneously from different countries in their search for cheap labour.
Only strong unions can serve the members better through collective bargaining, he added.
Nurul Islam Babu, executive president of Bangladesh Mukto Shramik Federation, said country's trade union movement faces some problems as most of the laws dealing with labour need amendment.
