BSD announces 12-day protest programme

Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) will stage a 12-day demonstrations by holding rallies at different parts of the country to protest the August 21 grenade attack on Awami League (AL) rally.

As per the programme, the rallies will be held in Gaibandha on September 13, in Chittagong on September 14, in Feni on September 15, in Sylhet on September 16, in Joypurhat on September 17, and in Khulna on September 24 demanding impartial probe on the grenade attack that killed 20 people including AL leader Ivy Rahman.

At a grand rally at Muktangon in the city yesterday, the BSD leaders demanded arrest and exemplary punishment to the real culprits of the grenade attack.

They also demanded that the probe reports on the bomb attacks on Udichi in Khulna, Communist Party rally in Dhaka, and Shahjalal shrine in Sylhet be made public.

BSD leaders expressed concern at the activities of fundamentalist forces in the country and urged all democratic, progressives and left-leaning forces to come forward together to oust the government.

They also protested the government's move to give immunity to the World Bank and alleged that the government has closed down many mills and factories including Adamjee Jute Mills leaving the workers jobless on the prescription of the bank.
