Sylhet transport owners, workers threaten strike

Transport workers and owners in Sylhet yesterday threatened a 72-hour strike from September 24 to press home their 12-point demand.

The threat came from a rally organised by the Sarak Paribahan Malik Sramik Sangram Parishad at the city point on Wednesday. President of Sylhet Zila Sarak Paribahan Sramik Union Selim Ahmed Folik presided over the rally.

The transport leaders urged the authorities concerned to meet their demands by September23 to avoid the strike.

Their demands included improvement of South Surma Central Bus Terminal, establishment of Autorickshaw and Autotempo stands, establishment of Truck Terminal in the city, stopping illegal toll collection and arrest of the killers of coach driver Faizul Haque Minu.
