Rab action inside court disgraceful

Some judges and senior officials of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) have termed the Rab action inside the court as most disgraceful. Such an act is tantamount to contempt of court, said President of Khulna District Bar Association Advocate Sohrab Hossain.

Rab should have sought permission from the judge concerned who was trying a case at the time of the arrest of terrorist Maruf Billah of Rampal upazila under Bagerhat district, he added.

Officer-in-Charge Mosharaf Hossain and Nazir of District Judges' Court Motaleb Hossain filed two separate general diaries with Khulna Police Station in this connection on the same day.

District and Sessions Judge AKM Ishtiaque Hossain has informed the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs in writing about the Rab operation in the courtroom.

Rab definitely committed excess by arresting a terrorist from the court who was granted bail in the UP Chairman Habib Sarder Murder Case, said Advocate SM Abu Zafar, special PP of the Speedy Trial Tribunal.

Rab senior officials have expressed their regret calling on the district judge at his residence and assured him of action against those responsible for the incident.

KMP officials have also blamed Rab for firing two shots on the court premises on that day.

Rab has denied the allegation.
