Different bodies start relief operation for flood victims

The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) Limited, in association with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), has lunched a campaign to raise funds for flood-hit people.
To mitigate the sufferings of the flood victims, the HSBC has started a relief programme.
The money raised will be handed over to Bangladesh Red Crescent Society.
Caritas
Caritas, a non-government organisation, has taken up a relief and rehabilitation programme for flood-affected people at a cost of Tk 11.5 crore.
In the first phase, Caritas will distribute relief materials including food items among the 1,8200 families in worst affected 116 unions of 42 upazilas.
Caritas will also take up a post-flood rehabilitation programme in the affected areas at a cost of Tk 10 crore.
Clinic Owners' Assoc
Bangladesh Private Clinic Diagnostic Owners' Association has started to collect medicine and relief materials for flood-hit people.
The association has appealed to all people and pharmaceutical industries to come forward in aid of the flood victims.
Officials and employees of social welfare ministry have decided to donate their one-day salary to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund for flood-affected people.
Bangladesh Chhatra Union, a left-leaning student organisation, will start oral saline project in the city's flood-hit areas.
Meanwhile, Krishibid Institution and the Communist Party of Bangladesh distributed relief materials in the city's flood-hit areas yesterday.
