One shot dead over land dispute in Sylhet
A young man was shot dead and seven others were injured at a village in Beanibazar upazila of the district yesterday.
The victim Fokhoruddin, 30, died on the spot as he received bullets in his head and chest.
The injured were Nazimuddin, 18, Kamaluddin, 29, Zakir Hossain, 18, Saiful Islam, 18, Abdul Wahid Shipu, 22, Mizan, 20, and Shahin Ahmed, 18.
They were admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
Police said there had been a long standing dispute over a land between one Luku member and Sunam Uddin Maruf of village Konagram.
The incident took place when some people of Luku member went to construct some pillars on the boundary of the land.
The rivals resisted them and at one stage several shots were fired.
