No scarcity of relief : Saifur

Finance Minister M Saifur Rahman yesterday said there is no scarcity of relief materials as the government has sanctioned adequate relief for the flood victims.

If needed, more relief would be provided to mitigate the suffering of the marooned people, he said at different gatherings during his visit to some swamped villages in Companyganj Upazila.

The minister also asked the officials to ensure proper distribution of relief materials.

He said multistoried flood shelters would be constructed in vulnerable areas, including Sylhet region.

These buildings will be used as educational institutions during the dry period, he added.

Saifur said the government is going to launch a massive post-flood rehabilitation programme under which affected farmers would be given seeds and fertiliser as well as bank loan.

Also, loan recovery drive would remain suspended until the next boro season, he added.

The minister visited Borni, Tukerbazar, Dhalarpar and Budhbaribazar areas.
