Artist Abul Kashem dead

Kazi Abul Kashem, a pioneering Muslim artist in undivided Bengal, cartoonist and litterateur, died at National Heart Foundation in the city yesterday at the age of 93, says a press release.

He drew cartoons under the pen name 'Dopeaja'.

Besides, he authored many books for children.

Kashem earned many accolades and awards, including Bangla Academy award.

He is survived by five sons, four daughters and a number of grandchildren.

Opposition Leader and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina expressed condolence at his death.
