Five students get AAA scholarships

The American Alumni Association (AAA) awarded scholarships of Tk 75,000 each to five students who had received admission in American universities for the coming fall semester, says a press release.

The students who received the scholarships are: Khalid Mahmood Khan (Doctor of Public Health at Columbia University), Taieef Rahman (Undergraduate at Yale Universaity), Naomi Syed Hossain (Undergraduate at Bucknell University), Meem Naat Ahsan (Undergraduate at the College of Saint Elizabeth) and Mrittika Shamsuddin (Undergraduate at Lafayette College).

The award-giving ceremony was held at the AAA office in Banani in the city on July 17. AAA President Syed Almas Kabir, Secretary Ayesha Dastgir, Treasurer Karl Fritz and executive committee members Forrest Cookson, Prof Akhtar Sultana and Quazi M Ahmed were present at the function. Michelle Jones, deputy Director, the American Centre was also present.

AAA is an association of American graduates in Bangladesh and seeks to aid Bangladeshi students exploring the possibility of study in the United States. Every year AAA hands out three to five scholarships of Tk 75,000 to first time students to the US.
