Class suspended till July 26, BCL leader sent to jail
A meeting of the Teachers Council yesterday decided to suspend the classes to avert further untoward incident.
The meeting also formed a four-member liaison committee headed by Professor Shambhu Nath Das, chairman of the accounting department, to monitor the situation and take necessary action, said Principal Md Nuruzzaman.
However, the scheduled examinations of honours part II and part III will be held as usual.
Besides, the distribution of HSC first year admission forms will continue from July 21 to 31.
Meanwhile, BCL Vice-President of Chittagong Commerce College unit Jahangir Hossain Shantu was sent to jail custody yesterday for his alleged involvement in the clash.
Police produced him before a court here yesterday afternoon showing him arrested under Section 54.
As the court time was over, Jahangir was sent to jail hajat.
About the delay in filing the case, police said it took time to prepare the case.
Police also released other fifteen students including BCL college unit General Secretary Ali Ahsan Nayan at around 11.00pm on Sunday.
They said Jahangir was detained as he was the main trouble shooter.
Earlier, a JCD activist Delwar Hossain filed a case with Double Mooring Police Station accusing ten BCL men in connection with the clash.
Security has been tightened with the deployment of additional forces in and around the campus, police sources said.
