Religious edn can ensure communal harmony

Speakers at a roundtable yesterday called for multireligious training of teachers and Imams to help maintain religious tolerance and communal harmony.

Religious education could play a vital role in ensuring communal harmony at grassroots level, they said.

Odhikar, a human rights organisation, and The Bangladesh Today organised the roundtable on 'Role of religious education and religious teachers in maintaining communal harmony at grassroots level'.

Dr Amanur Rahmanm, former director general of the Islamic Foundation, said there is no difference between religion and the human being.

Farida Akhter, a woman rights activist, said women of all faiths are subjected to harassment as all religions are dominated by men.
