Worry for Fishermen

Fishermen collect eggs of fish such as rui, katla and mrigal from the Halda river, a natural breeding ground for fish. The breeding season starts in Chaitra and lasts till Jaistha in Bangla calendar. But this year fish have not laid eggs until the last week of Jaistha, causing worry among the fishermen. (Left) An egg preservation centre which is lying idle because of dearth of eggs.
