Steps taken to formulate common codes for jute

The first working group meeting on preparation of common harmonised system codes was held at the IJSG secretariat in the city on Wednesday.

Participants at the meeting opined that such codes with product descriptions would be helpful for the buyers to avoid confusion and order for specific jute and jute products from any country.

Presided over by Jute Secretary MA Rahim, the meeting was addressed by participants from National Board of Revenue, Tariff Commission, Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation, Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institute, Bangladesh Jute Mills Association and Bangladesh Jute Association.
