UAE extends support to Dhaka for OIC top post

The support was formally conveyed to Bangladesh when Prime Minister's Advisor on the Parliamentary Affairs Salauddin Quader Chowdhury, who is running for the post, called on Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan recently, said a press release of the foreign ministry yesterday.

Salauddin Quader, who visited the emirates as the special envoy of Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, handed over a letter from her to the UAE deputy prime minister for President Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

The special envoy also discussed matters of mutual interest with the deputy prime minister.

He thanked the UAE government for giving employment to 300,000 Bangladeshis in the Emirates.

He also praised the dynamic leadership of the UAE president and said that his inspiring leadership had contributed to further strengthening the solidarity and unity of the Islamic Ummah.
