Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) recovered ammunition, drugs, porno CDs and other illegal things from the house of a BNP leader at Daulatpur early hours yesterday.

Acting on a tip off, a BDR team of Mirpur camp led by Major Imran cordoned off the house of Farid Uddin Mondol alias Farid Mondol, leader of Daulatpur upazila BNP and an alleged arms smuggler, and asked him to surrender by a loudspeaker at about 5:00am.

But Farid fled the house. The BDR searched the house and arrested Farid's son Mamunur Rahman Shiplu, 25, an alleged cadre of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, who was out on bail in a drugs case.

Following Shiplu's statement, the BDR recovered 39 bullets, an empty cartridge and a knife, 12 porno CDs, 1,470 bottles of Indian phensidyl, 2 kg cannabis and two human skulls from the house and nearby places.

Shiplu was handed over to police, who suspect Farid and his son have been involved in smuggling of the recovered things for long.

Two separate cases were filed with Daulatpur Police Station.
