BNP calls hartal in Raozan today
Local unit of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has called a dawn to dusk hartal in Raozan today protesting the murder of a pro-BNP union parishad (UP) chairman here on Thursday.
Abu Taher,45, chairman of Pashcim Guraja Union Parishad, was shot dead by unidentified assailants while he was going to a local market at around 4:30pm.
Agitating locals yesterday put up barricades on the Chittagong-Kaptai Highway, disrupting traffic for seven hours.They also damaged some vehicles during the time.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. The slain chairman was buried at his family graveyard after Juma prayers yesterday. A large number of people, including the leaders and activists of local BNP, attended the funeral.
However, police could not nab any of the killers till yesterday evening.
