Three BNP leaders expelled

Staff Correspondent, Khulna
Three BNP leaders have been expelled for their alleged involvement in the murder of Bagerhat district President of the Sramik League Khan Sadekul Islam alias Sadia Khan.

The expelled are president of Teligati union unit of BNP Ashraf Ali, general secretary Alamgir Hossain and joint secretary Akram Hossain, all from Moralganj upazila.

They were named in the FIR (first information report) as accused in the murder of Sadekul on November 13 near Gabtala bus stand at Kachua thana in Bagerhat.

The decision on expulsion came from a party meeting on Friday with district unit President and lawmaker MAH Selim in the chair, a press release said.

Meanwhile, the Awami League and Sramik League leaders of Bagerhat termed the expulsion an eyewash, branding Selim as godfather of the killers.

They threatened to declare Selim persona non grata if the accused in the FIR were not handed over to police.
