BNP MP laments police excesses on molasses traders

Kabir, elected from Rajshahi, told the House that police intercepted a truck carrying molasses at Natore a few days back and unloaded the goods.

On receiving the information, he immediately contacted the home minister and commerce secretary to know if there is a ban on traffic of food items. But he received no satisfactory reply.

"Where shall I go? To whose notice shall I bring the sufferings of the farmers, who produce molasses in Rajshahi?" Kabir Hossain vented his frustration in a point of order.

Kabir also criticised the commerce secretary, who asked him to file a written allegation.

However, Speaker Jamir Uddin Sircar suggested him to give a notice to the parliament so that he (the speaker) could ask the minister concerned for a reply.
