Gunmen spray bullets, injure five

Faruque, SM Rajon, Sayeed, Saiful Islam and Nurul Islam Biplob are undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). They are all staff of Hotel Akash Inn International.

Hotel manager Saiful received four bullets in his chest and back and electrician Faruq one in his chest. Their conditions are critical, the DMCH sources said.

The gang fired 25 to 30 gunshots, creating panic among the boarders and locals.

"A gang of three or four entered the hotel at the time of iftar and looked for Saiful. They fired indiscriminately on a group of people, who were taking iftar," the officer-in-charge of Tejgaon Police Station quoting witnesses said.

Meanwhile, DMCH sources said operatives of the city's listed top criminal Pichchi Hannan were seen roaming the hospital premises yesterday evening, probably following the incident.
