Journalist Hasina Ashraf dead
She was a senior reporter of the now defunct Dainik Bangla.
She is survived by her only son Engineer Asif Ashraf Kishore, who is working in the United States. Former managing editor of the Dainik Bangla late Ali Ashraf was her husband.
Hasina Ashraf had joined the Daily Dainik Bangla as a feature reporter in 60s. She served the daily for 29 years till October 30, 1997 the day on which the daily was closed.
Hasina Ashraf fell sick and admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital following cerebral thrombosis. However, she was shifted to National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases as her condition deteriorated. She was shifted to BIRDEM on Wednesday.
She will be buried at Azimpur Graveyard after Namaj-e-janaza at Magnolia Vila at Section-10 in Mirpur, her family sources said.
Prime Minister Khaleda Zia yesterday expressed her deep shock at the death of Hasina Ashraf.
In a message of condolence, Khaleda also conveyed her sympathy to the members of the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
