JCD activists beat up shop owner at JU

Md Manik Miah, the shop owner, was rushed to the Rabeya clinic in a critical condition at around 12:30am.

A group of JCD activists led by Rezaul Kabir Sabuj, president of Kamal Uddin hall unit of JCD, beat up Manik at the guest room of the hall at around 11.00am after another group brought him there.

"We beat up Manik as he did not confess to theft even after the students of room No. 112 of the hall caught hold of him in the room at around 2.30am on Sunday," said Sabuj.

He took the action after the inmates of the room complained against the shop owner, Sabuj added.

But fellow shop owners said Manik was attacked just because he refused to give free meals to some JCD cadres few days ago, leading to an altercation with them.

Meanwhile, the hall authorities has formed a three-member body to investigate the incident.C
