Five hurt in JCD factional fight in Khulna

Severely injured Raihan Sharif, assistant general secretary of the college, and Titas, former secretary of city unit of JCD, were admitted to the general hospital. The other injured are City JCD members Babu, Rupak and Tariqul.

Sources said one of the factions involved in the clash is loyal to City BNP Secretary Nazrul Islam Manju and the other to the city mayor.

The clash occurred when City JCD President Masud Parvez, leader of the pro-mayor faction, prevented the rival group from entering the college auditorium where a party meeting was being held.

Both groups used clubs and hand bombs during chase and counter-chase, and damaged two roadside shops and six rickshaws. A tense situation prevailed on campus.

Leaders of both groups blamed each other for the attack.
