AL discloses names of 101 'godfathers' of coalition
Names of ministers, state ministers, MPs, ward commissioner and party leaders and workers are there on the list.
The AL also described Prime Minister Khaleda Zia's address to the nation on October 10, marking the ruling alliance's two years in office, as unsubstantiated.
"She has confused the nation through rhetoric. Her words do not match her actions...she has simply failed to ensure public security," AL General Secretary Abdul Jalil MP told reporters at a press briefing at the party's Dhanmondi office.
The Awami League arranged the press briefing to brush aside the speech of Khaleda on the country's overall situation.
The AL general secretary also read out a 21-page written statement narrating the 'misdeeds' of the 'godfathers' with quotes from newspaper reports on their specific allegations.
Jalil said the government could not achieve any success in improving law and order. "Each and every citizen got fed up with the growing trend of terrorism, repression and toll collection," he added.
"People cannot seek justice for the repression perpetrated by BNP godfathers and cadres. Police do not take case. If anyone files a case, threat comes repeatedly while in many cases the aggrieved persons are killed. But few of the incidents are in the newspaper," he said.
Asked whether they would place these allegations in parliament, Jalil said they wanted to join parliament session, but the government left no scope for them to do so.
"We cannot joint parliament session unless they meet our three-point demand," Jalil said.
