Clashes mark Feni Poura polls

Witnesses said Jamaat-Shibir and Chhatra-Jubo Dal activists clashed after a magistrate fined a Jamaat-backed commissioner candidate, Safiulla, Tk 10,000 on charge of influencing the voters at a polling centre.

At least 15 people were injured at Feni Government Girls High School Centre as police and BDR clubbed the rioting supporters.

Besides, chase and counter-chase took place at other centers in seven wards over attempts to take control of the polling centers and rig vote.

Those declared elected commissioners are Moazzem Hossain Hazari Boku, Abdur Rab, Gazi Abdul Malek, Delwar Hossain Babul, Kamaluddin Mahamud, Ataul Haq Ashru, Omar Farooq Belal and Jasimuddin.
