Durga Puja grants go to BNP seats
Except for one constituency, all other constituencies belong to the ruling BNP's ministers and lawmakers.
According to an order of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, the rice have been allocated under the GR (gratuitous relief) for the Puja Mandaps and temples.
One hundred tonnes will go to three constituencies of Feni, which belong to the BNP lawmakers Syed Iskander (younger brother of the prime minister), Jaynal Abedin and Mosharraf Hossain.
Tangail-4 (Kalihati) and Laxmipur-1 (Ramganj) constituencies, belonging to Environment and Forest Minister Shajahan Siraj and State Minister for Local Government Rural Development (LGRD) and Cooperatives Ziaul Haq Zia, have been allocated 50 tonnes each.
Narsingdi-3, Patuakhali-1 and Chandpur-1, belonging to LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan, Home Minister Altaf Hossain Chowdhury and State Minister for Education Ehsanul Haq Milon, have been allocated 25 tonnes each.
State Minister for Environment and Forest Jafrul Islam Chowdhury's constituency Chittagong-15 will get 20 tonnes.
Other constituencies, which have been allocated 25 tonnes each, are Netrokona-1, Narsingdi- 4, Gazipur-3, Laxmipur-3, Laxmipur-2, Noakhali-2, Noakhali-1, Comilla-10, Kushtia-4 and Bhola-4, all belong to the BNP lawmakers.
Only Noakhali-4, which belongs to independent lawmaker Mohammad Ali, has got an allocation of 25 tonnes.
The ministry asked the deputy commissioners (DCs) of the districts to keep in touch with the ministers and lawmakers of the constituencies, though the sanction was made against the DCs.
