Govt released 53,000 criminals: Hasina
She also alleged that some 25,000 women and children throughout the country fell victims to either rape or repression as the alliance government released its 53,000 criminals from jails since it came to power.
She was addressing a number of rallies at Kanaipur, Madhukhali and Kamarkhali of Faridpur district on her way to Khulna yesterday.
Hasina said hundreds of mills and factories of the country were being closed down due to massive irregularities by this 'corrupt' government.
The leader of the opposition in parliament also accused the prime minister and her family members of amassing wealth and siphoning off Tk 11,000 crore.
Hasina alleged that the prime minister's son had set up a textile mill in Malaysia and said Bangladesh's unemployed youths would have got jobs had the mill been established in the country.
Referring to joining of Shah Abu Zafar in BNP, Hasina said, "The prime minister has violated the constitution by declaring Zafar as de-facto MP of his area (Faridpur-1). "She (Khaleda) will be put on trial for violating the constitution and killing democracy," she said.
About joining the parliament session by her party, the former prime minister said, "It's meaningless to go there because they don't allow us to speak in the House."
She called upon the people to make the September 25 hartal a success to intensify the ongoing anti-government movement.
Earlier, Hasina addressed a rally at Goalundo upazila headquarters in Rajbari district and asked the government to take all necessary steps to rehabilitate the river erosion and flood-hit people of the district.
On the recent arms haul from the house of a BNP leader in Pangsha upazila of the district, she said these things were happening because the alliance government was patronising criminals.
