One gets life in Magura
District and Sessions Judge's court, Magura yesterday awarded life term rigorous imprisonment to one person and fined Tk 50 thousand, in default, to suffer two years more RI for killing a man at village Utholi in Mohammadpur Upazila.
District and sessions Judge Mohammad Shafiuddin acquitted 14 others of the charge.
The convict is Saifur Rahman Shikder of village Mondalgati in Mohammadpur Upazila.
According to the prosecution in brief, Bashi Sarder of village Uthali was mercilessly beaten up on July 30 in 2000 at about 11 am and succumbed to his injuries at 10 pm at Magura Sadar Hospital.
Victim's brother Ayub Sardar filed a murder case with Mohammadpur thana accusing 15 people.
Police after investigation submitted charge sheet against all the accused.
